I’m a sucker for chickens. One day when we’re out of the city, I hope to have a couple of chooks laying me a few eggs and doing my weeding. That would be awesome. For the time being though I have to just sit back and read the adventures of Allotment Lady’s hens. It’s worth pointing out that there are a few different ways to have a coop, and this one, posted on craft forum Craftster is a sight to behold, especially if you’re a fan of some of Nintendo’s games. It’s also interesting to see that chickens over in the States don’t just have to be protected from foxes and dogs like over here, but racoons and snakes too.

  1. I could live with racoons but not snakes!

  2. I’m not too bad on snakes. Now spiders, that’s where I go all funny. I’m planning a trip to Australia around Christmas and the one thing that’s making me think twice about going (apart from the obv money issues) is the fact they have some very nasty spiders there. I keep visualising finding a funnel web in my sleeping bag. Which is all a little bit silly really.

  3. Oooooh, liking the new look!

  4. Why thank you Miss Jen

  5. I love reading your blog – and the chicken house is great. I have seen so many wonderful designs – really grand – but without a handyman husband I just look and drool.

Mine are the best compromise for me (with a bad back and so much else to do ).

Easy to wash out – no problems with mites and other pests – and no regular wood staining and treatment – but I agree – the hand made wooden ones are often so original.
