And now for a picture…

Look! I’ve finially managed to work out how to upload pictures from my phone to the computer. This is my allotment. As you can see, I really am growing nothing but weeds. Freshly planted garlic on the top right corner. It’s the bit that looks weed free. That’s not my shed by the way, mine’s to the right.

It’s always a great feeling to get something in the ground and growing! I haven’t put my garlic in yet and am having the same thoughts as you with broad beans. I will put it in I think as if it doesn’t work out I can plant some more in feb anyway.
    All the best, Mike

Good piece of ground by the look of it, nice and flat.
It may be an odd way of looking at things but I try to think of annual weeds as a sort of’green manure’ at this time of year. I pull the perenial ones out as soon as I see them but the annual weeds will just grow on through the winter months when I’m not using the soil for anything else, help to stop the rain from leeching valuable minerals and can be put on the compost heap a couple of weeks before you want to plant in the spring.
Are you going to try setting out any 4 foot wide raised beds?
